Orgeat
When I dont want to make this, I'll reach for Liber & Co. Almond Orgeat Syrup
If you'd like to make this at home:
Toasted Almond Milk
First we are going to make some quick toasted almond milk. This will become the base for our orgeat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup blanched sliced almonds
- 1 cup of warm water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Spread almonds on a baking sheet and toast for ~7 minutes (dont over toast!)
- Remove from oven and let cool
- Add almonds and water to a blender and blend for ~1 minute
- Strain through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth (agitate to get the liquid through faster)
Orgeat
Now that we have our toasted almond milk, we can make our orgeat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup toasted almond milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons Cognac (to help the syrup last longer)
- 2 teaspoons Disaronno Originale Amaretto Liqueur
- 1 teaspoon orange flower water
Instructions
- Add almond milk and sugar to a saucepan and heat over medium heat (just long enough to combine, dont let boil)
- Remove from heat and let cool
- Add Cognac, Disaronno, and orange flower water
- Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to a month
