🔌 Run power out to the sauna Jun 1, 2023
I've wired up the sauna for indoor/outdoor led lights and outlets for convience.
!!! Im not convinced that EMT conduit will survive buried in the ground !!!
may need to use PVC conduit instead
will need to dig down to 18" for PVC conduit
I'll dig a trench from the sauna to the house. With metal conduit, I only need to dig to a depth of 6" for code.
run a single 20amp circuit out to the shed
there will be a single kill switch wired into a light-switch near the entrance
What depth to dig? → w/ metal conduit 6"
What metal conduit to use? → EMT
What guage wire to use? → 12/2
What diameter of metal conduit to use? → 3/4" EMT
why? there is a max fill percentage that takes into account the need to dissipate heat
What length of wire from house to sauna? → ~100ft
what does it feel like to dig to 18in?
do I want to rent a trencher?
what tool to use for this?
can I get buy with my drill and a masonry bit?
what length of bit → what is the depth of the brick?
~150' of 3/4" EMT conduit
~150' of 12/2 wire
1x 20amp breaker
2x j-box (elbow from building down to conduit)
connections from j-box to conduit...?
This will allow me to finally close up the walls in the changeing room of the sauna
This project will require me to breakup some of the asphalt in the driveway to run the conduit, this is inspire me to do other work in that area removing more of the asphalt to make way for the pergola

🍉 Watermelon Long Jun 2, 2023
Gin, lemon, watermelon, and seltzer
Dirty, sweaty, and misquito bitten, from digging the trench to run power out to the sauna . I wanted something as refreshing as a Tom Collins.
