At first I created the drink exactly as called for in Difford's Guide.

The drink reminded me of high school when someone would pour vodka in some vending machine juice and sneak it into a dance and pass it around. It was way too vodka forward and too sweet. I couldn't even finish it.

I toned down the vodka slightly and added some neutral tasting acid to balance the sweet.

The result was much more balanced and enjoyable.

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 oz vodka
• 1/2 oz Chambord
• 1 1/2 oz pineapple juice
• 1/2 oz lemon juice

Instructions

• Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice
• Shake for 10 seconds
• Double strain into a coupe

Notes

• This would probably be plenty tasty with gin and a few out spirits as well
